| From Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular and CNS disorders to frailty and periodontal disease, cytokines play a major role in a wide spectrum of dis-eases. Current pharmacological strategies exist to harness cytokine potential in disease management. However, the potential of herbal medicines to affect these messaging molecules has largely been ignored. There does appear to be a significant impact on various aspects of cytokine regulation by the botanical immunomodulators. A review of cytokine activity and the ability of herbal immunomodulators to affect this biological informational system will be discussed here. | |
