| In the last ten years, all public opinion surveys show a profound shift in America’s attitude about abortion: more than 20% of our fellow citizens have abandoned their supportive or indifferent attitude toward the "termination of pregnancy" and embraced the cause of human life. Michael Medved is one of the millions of people who moved from a casual, instinctive "pro choice" position to become an impassioned advocate of the pro life cause.
On July 3, 2003, Michael was honored with selection as the keynote speaker at the annual National Right to Life Convention in St. Louis, Missouri. In a stirring and unusually personal address, he describes the transformation of his own thinking on abortion, enumerating the three factors that contributed to his own (and the nation’s) Pro Life Revolution: RESULTS, RELIGION, and RELATIONSHIPS. He speaks of his personal history and the painful experiences that exposed the folly in society’s thoughtless, arrogant attitude toward conception and parenthood.
Even for those who see themselves as "pro-choice," or remain uncertain about their attitude toward abortion, Michael’s arguments (and his intimate narrative) provide an electrifying challenge. This historic speech can serve to change minds, or at least to shake complacency, regarding one of the pre-eminent moral issues of our time. |
